San Diego & the Cherry Blossom Festival

San Diego. A whale’s vagina.

I returned for a brief spell in the US recently to renew my passport and get some visas for upcoming trips, and I took time to visit one of my best friends in southern California.

I love San Diego. The weather is (almost) always good, nice people, fresh air from the ocean, good food, Latin cultural influences. Great stuff abounds.

The annual Cherry Blossom Festival in Balboa Park was just starting, and I figured this is a good way to start a new travel blog. They are both signs of new beginnings and things yet to come.

The festival itself seems poorly managed and disorganized. There was also no vegan food available, though the crowd was shamelessly routed to pass through the food stalls in an awful bottleneck. However, it was great overall. Beautiful park, beautiful cherry blossoms, and great Spring weather.

I had a great talk with this humanist booth, as well, until someone started yelling at us about Jesus and pushing people. He REALLY convinced us that his religion was right and based on love…

So, this is my new travel blog. I’ve seen and done a lot, but there’s still a lot more I want to see and do. Many new experiences to be had. Lots more vegan food to sample, as well.

Pro tip for vegans in San Diego: eat at Pokez over and over again for the best Mexican food north of the border.
